Ushering in what is shaping up to be an action-packed and exciting release schedule over the next few months for Low Down Deep Recordings, Heist and Pleasure unleash onto us the ‘You’re Not Ready’  EP.  This is the second EP these two artists have forged their styles and intelligence on to create something once again that’s truly remarkable.   Featuring 2 solo tracks by Heist, 2 solo tracks by Pleasure and 2 collaboration tracks by both, you can really hear the influence these two men have on one another throughout.
We descend into the EP with Pleasure’s ‘Money Train’.  The 16 bar intro is short and sweet, but will effectively have you feeling as though you are literally falling or descending into the essential, hefty & intricate symphony of synths, drums & basses that is the ‘Money Train’.  All aboard please.
Next we see the EP’s first solo effort from seasoned super producer Heist.   Commencing with a momentous intro that is as much uplifting as it is cinematic and immersive, Heist shows us in a hurry that his library of electronic sounds has no limits, and that he has no issues treading the line between all things classic 70’s and 80’s electronic, while also giving the soundscape the proper present-day futuristic treatment.  When ‘Silver Bullet’ drops, you’ll feel energized by its ability to march between being a banger and a stepper, and elated by your own ability to comfortably choose whether to get your bounce on in time to the kick or snare.  Honestly, this one is here to get things moving.  Its tasteful re-introduction of the intro before the second drop also breathes new life into the second half of the track allowing you to make the most of it in the mix.
Following suit to Heist’s fusion of retro and new school vibes in ‘Silver Bullet’. Pleasure delivers his second solo effort ‘Kraft’. The pad in the intro will have your mind time-traveling back to an age where you were watching a sci-fi or fantasy flick, comfortably seated in front of a TV that was more of a piece of furniture than a tele.  The tune itself boasts a gutted heavy kick drum, a minimal, effective high hat & a slappy little snare fused with a bassline and lead synth that distinctively sounds like a laser with a multitude of different settings, here to blast you into the unknown.
As if we haven’t paid enough homage to all things retro just yet. Heist unleashes the big guns & lazer beams on his second solo effort ‘Return To Dust’. The intro is just superb, there may not be a tangible limit to how many times the crowd can say ‘rewind’ on this one. This tune’s definitely on deck to immerse you into a video game-like state, much like the feeling of planting yourself in front of an arcade cabinet you’ve been itching to try since it was released, with enough coins in your pocket to brock out for hours and hours. Expect a tasty stepper of a beat, a masterful mix down, mind-tingling vocal samples & a bassline that’s as much sexy and smooth as it is grimey and distorted.
Closing out the EP, we have the two co-lab efforts, ‘Slaughter’ & the title track ‘You’re Not Ready’.  Both tunes look to break away from the established identity of the intricate, understated solo tracks by being just a touch heavier and aggressively more abrasive.  Can you say teamwork?  Perhaps you’re not ready for the slaughter these two masterpieces can have on the dance…or are you?
